The engineer will collaborate with construction teams, contractors, municipalities, and utility partners to deliver projects on time and within budget while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities:Network Design & PlanningoDevelop detailed OSP network designs, including fiber routes, conduit systems, pole attachments, handholes, cabinets, and other supporting infrastructure.oPerform site surveys and field validation to confirm design accuracy and identify potential challenges.oUtilize IQGeo, GIS, CAD, or other design software to prepare construction drawings, splicing schematics, and as-built documentation.Engineering & ComplianceoEnsure designs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry standards (e.g., RUS, NEC, NESC).oCoordinate with permitting agencies, DOT, utilities, and municipalities for right-of-way approvals, easements, and construction clearances.oConduct make-ready analysis for aerial plant, ensuring pole loading and spacing requirements are met.Project ExecutionoProvide engineering support throughout construction, including field inspections, redlines, and resolution of design conflicts.oDevelop material lists, specifications, and cost estimates for projects.oSupport splicing, testing, and turn-up of fiber networks, ensuring proper documentation of OTDR traces, loss budgets, and test results.Cross-Functional CollaborationoWork closely with project managers, construction supervisors, and contractors to ensure designs are constructible and efficient.oEngage with operations teams to ensure designs meet long-term maintenance and serviceability needs.oPartner with vendors and suppliers to evaluate new products, technologies, and methods that improve deployment speed and reduce costs.Documentation & ReportingoMaintain accurate records of design packages, permits, redlines, and as-builts.oProvide status updates, reports, and technical input to leadership on project progress and risks.oTrack and manage OSP assets within mapping and inventory systems.Primarily office-based with frequent field visits to construction sites, utility poles, and right-of-way areas.Requires the ability to walk construction sites and climb utility structures if needed.Travel may be required within the service territory.We are a company committed to creating inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. More responsible for reviewing designed projects to include checking onelines, schematics, detailed wiring drawings and P&C drawings to provide QA/QC for projects that have been designed by contracted Engineering firms. It will also prepare engineering and design in-house for the construction of new as well as upgrades of existing substations. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES ? Conduct engineering design reviews for contracted substation projects and perform QA/QC on checklists, one lines, schematics, detail wiring diagrams, and nameplates.? Work with outside engineering firms, consultants, vendors and equipment manufacturers. ? Create standard substation engineering designs to include the design of steel structures, foundations, clearances, layout drawings, grounding, oil containment, lightning protection, schematics, and wiring diagrams. ? Evaluate equipment ratings, requirements, and project schedules to facilitate the accurate ordering of equipment to support project in service dates. ? Prepare bills-of-material for the development of material lists to support standard designs. ? Prepare accurate project cost estimates. ? Provide engineering support to employees to assist in their learning of standards, procedures, designs, and specifications. ?
