The engineer performs and interprets measurement system analysis activities, including gage repeatability and reproducibility, bias, and variation studies, to validate inspection capability and ensure confidence in inspection results. Inspection data, defect trends, and SPC outputs are analyzed to identify process excursions, reduce false calls or escape defects, and correlate inspection results with upstream and downstream process conditions. Working closely with process, quality, and equipment engineering teams, the engineer supports root cause investigations, validates corrective actions through data, and qualifies inline inspection systems for new products, materials, and process changes. The role also supports new inspection tool installations, system upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving yield, detection capability, and long-term inspection robustness.
