Decommissioning can occur for various reasons, such as equipment upgrades, or data center consolidation. The goal is to remove some of the infrastructure inside a data center, not to shut down the entire facility or provide any kind of break/fix or troubleshooting.Responsibilities:Identify Assets to Decommission: Begin by creating a detailed inventory of servers, switches, and other equipment slated for decommissioning. Keep Clean and Cohesive Records: Documentation is your compass throughout the process. Maintain detailed records of all hardware, software, and data, which will aid in tracking and ensuring compliance.Back Up Current Data: Before decommissioning, back up all critical data.
