We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Database Migration Specialist to support a critical, time-sensitive enterprise data migration initiative. This consultant will play a key role in... analyzing complex legacy mainframe environments, including COBOL-based applications, IMS databases, and batch processing workflows, to enable the successful migration of enterprise data to modern target platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and executing extraction and conversion processes, modifying COBOL programs and JCL for data processing, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of migrated data through robust validation and reconciliation procedures. This role requires deep expertise in IMS utilities, BMC Utilities, and mainframe data structures, as well as hands-on experience supporting secure file transfers (FTP/SFTP), troubleshooting batch job failures and performance issues, and implementing field-level data transformation logic. The specialist will collaborate closely with DBAs, architects, and cross-functional teams to define migration strategies, resolve technical challenges, and support all phases of the migration lifecycle, including testing, cutover, and post-production stabilization. Additionally, the consultant will develop comprehensive technical documentation, migration runbooks, and operational procedures, while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through automation using tools such as REXX, CLIST, and File-AID.
