A medical coder is responsible for assigning the... correct code to describe the type of service a patient received.Essential duties & responsibilitiesStrong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminologyFamiliarity with ICD-10 codes and proceduresEnsure codes are accurate, active and sequenced correctly in accordance with insurance guidelines.Research for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual.Review the patient history for appending global modifiers.Follow HIPAA guidelines and keep patients PHI intact.Commitment to high level of customer serviceActive participation in team discussions.$2/hr to $3/hr Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
