Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Lead Equipment Operator to support a mining and mineral exploration company at their Yukon camp site on a 6 month contract. This is a fly in/out position, 4 weeks on with 2 weeks off. The shift is 12 hours per day, 7 days per week while at site. You will be responsible for operating heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders) while also supporting field-level coordination of operator productivity inputs and reporting. This role acts as the primary liaison between the equipment operator team and the PM for day-to-day operating performance visibility.

Key Responsibilities:
• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, and wheel loaders in support of mining site operations.
• Coordinate and support field-level capture of operator performance data, including hours worked, material moved, equipment utilization, and idle time.
• Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for operator-related reporting inputs into the Operator Performance & Productivity View.
• Support onsite workforce coordination across operator shifts, including shift handoff communication and scheduling adherence.
• Participate in operating rhythm activities including status updates and field-level reporting to the PM.
• Model safe operating practices and reinforce site safety standards across the operator team.
• Identify and escalate equipment issues, operator performance concerns, or scheduling gaps to the PM.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment operating experience (excavator, dozer, loader).
• Demonstrated leadership or lead-hand experience in a field, camp, or remote operating environment.
• Experience working extended rotations (4 weeks on / 2 weeks off or similar) in remote or camp-based settings.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, 7 days/week for 4-week rotations.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to support field reporting and coordination activities.
• Valid driver's license.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Prior experience as a lead operator or lead hand on a mining, drilling, or construction site.
• Experience with basic field reporting or tracker inputs (handwritten or digital).
• Class 1 license.
• First Aid / safety certifications.
