Insight Global is hiring an Inventory Accountant for a Distribution company in Eau Claire, WI. This person will be brought in to perform Accounting and Internal Audit tasks on all purchasing transactions for the company. The Inventory Accountant will need to use their expertise in Inventory management and Accounting to analyze and develop improvements in vendor pricing, profitability, and inventory optimization. This role will require meticulous detail as they will sift through transactions, build and export detailed spreadsheets, and analyze things like case quantities against individual quantities.
Essential Functions:
Review inventory purchase and sales transactions for accurate coding
Ensure accurate costing and valuation of inventory, including average cost reviews, cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, and inventory adjustments
Investigate unit of measure issues timely and correct within the ERP system
Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular reconciliation of physical inventory to the general ledger
Track inventory levels accurately, analyze for risk and monitor areas of improvement with support from operations team
Collaborate with purchasing and operations teams to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency
Maintain and improve inventory reporting tools, systems, and processes
Support the implementation of new inventory systems or process improvements as needed
Create and implement enhancements to the overall inventory process
Develop and review sales analytics / sales trends with management
Establish and maintain effective internal controls over inventory and cost accounting processes, ensuring compliance with SOX requirements, and facilitating audit readiness.
Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information, providing inventory and cost-related insights and analysis to management
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities to streamline and automate cost accounting processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity.
Other related duties and special projects as assigned

3+ years of experience in Analytics role (Accounting, Finance, or Inventory)
3+ years of Inventory Accounting experience within Distribution company
Strong demonstrated experience auditing purchasing transactions and inventory control
Intermediate-level MS Excel experience (building detailed spreadsheets, look-ups, pivot tables, conditional formatting)
Experience using Power BI or similar tool
Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
Experience in Inventory/Materials role at Menards, Home Depot, or Lowes
Vista ERP experience
CPA
