Overview
We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Building Automation Technician to lead the installation, programming, commissioning, and maintenance of Building Automation Systems (BAS) across complex commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on solving technical challenges, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring building systems operate at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities System Installation & Commissioning
Install, configure, and commission BAS hardware and software, including controllers, sensors, actuators, and network components.
Develop and implement control sequences for HVAC, lighting, energy management, and other integrated systems.
Perform system testing, calibration, and functional verification to ensure optimal performance.
Programming & Troubleshooting
Program BAS controllers (DDC) and supervisory software using platform-specific tools.
Diagnose and resolve complex system issues involving HVAC equipment, controls logic, networking, and integration protocols.
Analyze system data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
Maintenance & Support
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on BAS components.
Respond to service calls, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
Maintain accurate documentation, including as-builts, point lists, and service reports.
Leadership & Collaboration
Mentor and train junior technicians, providing technical guidance and quality oversight.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure successful project execution.
Participate in design reviews and provide input on system architecture and equipment selection.
Integration & Networking
Work with communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and proprietary systems.
Configure and troubleshoot BAS networks, including IP addressing, routing, and device communication.
Integrate BAS with third-party systems such as access control, lighting, and energy dashboards.
Qualifications Education & Experience
5–8+ years of hands-on experience with building automation or HVAC controls.
Technical degree in HVAC, electrical engineering, automation, or related field preferred.
Technical Skills
Proficiency with major BAS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, Schneider Electric, Delta, Distech).
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and electrical fundamentals.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Familiarity with networking concepts, low-voltage wiring, and system integration.
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
