Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join a leading mechanical contracting organization specializing in commercial, healthcare, and industrial projects. This individual will play a critical role in the preconstruction phase by developing accurate cost estimates for HVAC, process piping, and industrial piping projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication and installation processes, and construction estimating practices.

This position works closely with project management, engineering, procurement, vendors, and subcontractors to deliver competitive and comprehensive project bids. It is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in growing into project management or other leadership opportunities within the construction industry.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to understand project scope and requirements.
• Perform material, labor, and equipment takeoffs for mechanical construction projects.
• Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors and negotiate competitive costs.
• Develop detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, overhead, and profit considerations.
• Prepare and submit complete and accurate bid proposals within established deadlines.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams throughout the estimating process.
• Present and explain estimates to internal stakeholders and clients when necessary.
• Research market trends, material pricing, and industry developments to maintain competitive bids.
• Track project costs against estimates and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

• Relevant field, fabrication, or installation experience within mechanical construction OR a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Experience estimating mechanical construction projects, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, or sheet metal systems.
• Understanding of fabrication processes, installation methods, and industry best practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, AutoDesk Fabrication CADMEP OR Revit and BlueBeam
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with applicable building codes, industry regulations, and safety standards.
• Experience supporting large commercial, healthcare, or industrial projects.
