Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our Internet of Things (IoT) Solutions Software and Services customer that helps enterprises achieve digital transformation. You’ll design and deliver embedded firmware for connected IoT systems used across industrial applications—working closely with hardware and product teams. Projects include connectivity solutions for a customer’s firetruck division (full IoT) and another’s connectivity suite, among other hardware centric initiatives. This role is ideal for a hands on engineer who thrives in low level systems, device drivers, and robust wireless connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize embedded firmware for microcontrollers in mesh networked devices (C/C++ and Rust).
- Develop and integrate device drivers (sensors, radios, storage, comms), ensuring reliability across complex systems.
- Work within Zephyr RTOS (or similar) to build real time features, threads, synchronization, and power management.
- Bring up and debug hardware: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD, schematic and PCB review with EE teams.
- Build resilient connectivity: wireless stack integration (BLE, cellular, Wi Fi; mesh protocols), routing, security, OTA.
- Own testing and validation: unit tests, hardware in the loop, integration, field tests, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross functionally with hardware, product, and manufacturing to meet performance and compliance goals.
- Document designs and implementation details, provide code reviews, and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Support pilot launches and troubleshooting across lab and field environments; drive root cause analysis for defects.
- Contribute to architecture decisions for scalability, reliability, and secure communications across the mesh fleet.
