Job Description
The Project Manager is the primary contact and communication point to our clients and internal departments for Outside Plant construction projects. This role is an integral part of the project team and works closely with our Operations teams to ensure open lines of communication are shared between groups and customers during the construction process.
Responsibilities:
· Coordinate and facilitate pre-construction/kick-off meetings and progress update calls, providing a meeting summary and follow-up correspondence to all project stakeholders
· Monitor projects to ensure client and project team understand the project status throughout all phases; including outstanding, pending and completed tasks
· Schedule and drive activities to ensure project milestones remain on track, to meet deadlines and stay within budget
· Coordinate materials to ensure projected project start date is met
· Attend weekly status meetings with Operations, Sales and Administration for large projects, to ensure key milestones are being met and current status information is disseminated
· Inform the client and sales, Warehouse and Operations, when the work will be started and completed
· Closely monitor job costs, productivity, billing and job closeouts
· Coordinate project deliverables, including as-built drawings, project documents and test results
· Other duties as assigned
Ability to manage 60–80 active projects simultaneously within a shared PM structure.
Coordinate workload division between two Project Managers, with potential focus areas such as:
One PM overseeing outsourced projects
One PM overseeing in‑house projects
Oversight of new development initiatives and large‑scale construction efforts.
Comfortable managing projects spanning up to 120 miles of construction, involving both internal crews and external contractors.

Required Skills & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 3-5 years’ experience in project management (leading large projects) in telecommunications, fiber optic or underground/aerial (Power/Gas/Water) construction industry
· Must have a driver’s license and be insurable
· Ability to accurately read and interpret construction documents
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, set priorities, manage time effectively and meet deadlines
· Professional demeanor and appearance, along with the ability to communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, customers and other employees of the organization, which requires excellent written and oral communication skills
· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
· Knowledge of GIS and Google Earth is preferred
Industry Experience
Background in the electric utility sector or similar infrastructure‑heavy industries.
Understanding of utility construction standards, safety requirements, and regulatory considerations.
