Job Description

We are seeking an InRule Specialist for a contract through October to support a large‑scale rules migration and quality initiative within the healthcare/insurance analytics domain. The scope centers on configuring, validating, and migrating a high volume of medical business rules to ensure accuracy, transparency, and maintainability—without requiring heavy software engineering. The ideal consultant is plug‑and‑play, comfortable working across business and technical teams, and experienced with InRule in Microsoft‑centric environments.
Key Responsibilities

Configure and maintain decision logic and authoring objects within InRule (rules, vocabularies, decision tables, calculations, and rule applications)
Migrate ~3,000 existing rules into a target InRule structure, ensuring correct mapping, traceability, and parity with current behavior
Conduct validation and regression checks to confirm outcomes for medical/business rules are accurate and consistent across environments
Improve rule transparency (clear naming, standardized vocabularies, metadata, and documentation) to enable auditability and stakeholder understanding
Partner with business SMEs (clinical, underwriting, compliance, product) to translate policy and medical logic into scalable, testable rules
Implement governance practices for versioning, change control, and approvals; contribute to playbooks/standards for rule lifecycle management
Build or refine test assets (test cases, sample datasets, expected outcomes) for rules verification and ongoing monitoring
Collaborate closely with platform/DevOps teams to support deployments in Microsoft‑based environments and ensure proper environments/configuration
Identify and remediate gaps, duplicates, and conflicts in the existing rule set; recommend simplifications and performance improvements
Create clear documentation of rule intent, logic, dependencies, and exceptions for internal knowledge bases (e.g., Confluence)

Required Skills & Experience

3–5+ years hands‑on experience with InRule (irAuthor/irVerify/irCatalog/irServer or equivalent components), focused on configuration over coding
Demonstrated experience migrating and validating large rule sets (hundreds to thousands of rules), including impact analysis and reconciliation
Strong understanding of decision logic design (decision tables, vocabularies, rule flows, data mappings) and rule governance best practices
Comfortable working in Microsoft‑centric ecosystems (e.g., .NET services, Azure, SQL Server, CI/CD pipelines); ability to partner with engineering/ops without needing to write application code
Proven ability to work with healthcare/insurance domain rules (medical policies, eligibility, clinical guidelines, claims/authorization, or underwriting criteria) with an emphasis on clarity and auditability
Excellent skills in validation and testing—designing test cases, comparing expected vs. actual outcomes, and documenting results
Strong stakeholder communication and the ability to translate SME language into structured, unambiguous rules
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to ramp quickly in a plug‑and‑play capacity

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience defining rule taxonomies and common vocabularies to increase transparency and reusability
Familiarity with Confluence, Jira, and workflow/approval patterns for rule changes
Exposure to regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC, audit readiness) and writing traceable documentation
Knowledge of data validation techniques (sampling, golden records, scenario matrices, back‑testing)
Background in .NET/Azure sufficient to understand integrations and deployment patterns (no heavy coding required)
