Job Description

We are seeking an Agentic GenAI Software Engineer Contractor to serve as the primary hands-on builder for an Agentic GenAI proof of concept focused on accelerating product modernization and software delivery.

This is not a traditional application development contractor role. The primary objective is to design, develop, validate, and document a reusable set of Agentic GenAI software delivery agents that can accelerate modernization initiatives across multiple product areas. An initial service modernization effort will serve as the proving ground for these capabilities.

The contractor will work within a small AI-enabled delivery pod to demonstrate how a focused team can improve end-to-end productivity across software development activities, including requirements discovery, legacy code analysis, specification generation, solution design, development, testing, documentation, and release readiness.

Using tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot Agents, GitHub Copilot, Atlassian Rovo, ChatGPT, and Microsoft 365 Copilot, the contractor will create governed agentic workflows that are practical, repeatable, auditable, and extensible beyond the initial proof of concept. This role requires strong software engineering expertise, but its primary focus is building scalable AI-enabled development capabilities rather than simply delivering application features.
Key Responsibilities
Build Reusable Agentic GenAI Capabilities
Design, implement, and refine software delivery agents using Claude Code, GitHub Copilot Agents, and related GenAI technologies.
Create agents capable of operating across source code repositories, requirements artifacts, architecture guidance, Jira epics/stories, engineering standards, and documentation.
Develop workflows that generate reviewable, human-verifiable outputs.
Define clear agent responsibilities, inputs, outputs, validation checkpoints, constraints, and failure handling processes.
Ensure agent frameworks can be adapted and reused for future modernization efforts.
Develop Agentic Workflows for Spec-Driven Development
Build workflows that transform business requirements, existing documentation, and legacy code behavior into implementation-ready specifications.
Create agents that inspect applications and documentation to extract business rules, functional behavior, dependencies, integration points, and candidate service boundaries.
Generate structured specifications that support software development and testing.
Establish traceability between source inputs, generated artifacts, code changes, test coverage, and approval workflows.
Transition development practices from ad hoc prompting to governed, repeatable workflows.
Apply Agents to a Modernization Proof of Concept
Utilize an initial modernization initiative to validate the agent framework and delivery workflows.
Leverage existing software, business requirements, architecture guidance, work items, and subject matter expert input to drive implementation.
Use agents to accelerate analysis, development, testing, documentation, and validation activities.
Deliver production-ready software aligned with established quality, security, observability, and engineering standards.
Validate that modernized solutions satisfy functional requirements and expected outcomes.
Operate Within a Governed Human + AI Delivery Model
Ensure all AI-generated outputs are explainable, reviewable, and traceable to their source inputs.
Maintain records of prompts, outputs, assumptions, decisions, and approval checkpoints.
Design agent workflows that generate, validate, recommend, and summarize, but do not self-approve or autonomously deploy software.
Support explicit human accountability for requirements, code, testing, and documentation.
Align workflows with enterprise AI governance practices and controlled agentic delivery models.
