Job Description
We are seeking a Controls Technician to install, configure, and commission building automation and control systems. This role is ideal for someone who has moved beyond basic service work and wants exposure to full lifecycle controls projects, from initial installation through final checkout.
This is not a role focused on minor service tasks like changing setpoints or troubleshooting single devices. We are looking for someone who understands how to take a blank controller and bring an entire system online.
Key Responsibilities
• Install and commission building automation and control systems
• Take controls projects from start to finish, including:
o Controller installation and programming
o Point to point checkout
o System testing and troubleshooting
• Read and interpret control drawings, sequences of operation, and technical documentation
• Identify issues in the field and independently research solutions (model numbers, wiring diagrams, system behavior, etc.)
• Work with field teams, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure systems operate as designed
• Support startups and system optimization
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed

Required Skills & Experience
• 2+ years of experience in building controls, automation, or a related field
• Hands on experience installing and commissioning control systems (not just service calls)
• Familiarity with commercial building systems (HVAC, BAS, controllers, sensors, actuators)
• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently in the field
• Willingness to learn and research solutions when encountering unfamiliar systems
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with systems such as Honeywell, Johnson Controls (JCI), Siemens, ACI, or similar platforms
• Background with competitors or integrators in the controls marketplace
• Electrical, mechanical, or technical trade background
• Interest in hands on technical work (electronics, automotive, mechanical hobbies, etc.)
