As a Senior Manager, Appraisals, you’ll be part of the mortgage operations organization that powers a seamless, end-to-end home financing experience for our customers. Our team plays a critical role in our company's mission to make it easier to move by simplifying how customers buy and finance their homes. The Appraisal team ensures that every property valuation is accurate, compliant, and delivered with speed, enabling on-time closings while protecting our customers and investors. You’ll collaborate closely with Underwriting, Credit Risk, and external partners to remove friction from the valuation process and provide transparency in a complex market. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for directing all activities of the Appraisal division for. You will own the strategy for property valuations, ensuring they are fully compliant with federal and state laws, as well as internal risk appetites. You will lead a team of Appraisal Review Specialists and manage our external vendor network (AMCs) to align their performance with our team's high standards for quality and speed. Reporting into a senior operations leader, you will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on complex valuation matters. You will design and refine workflows, implement rigorous quality controls, and use data to manage the appraisal pipeline effectively. Required Skills & Experience
6+ years of experience in real estate appraisal or financial analysis, including significant experience managing teams in a high-volume mortgage environment
Advanced knowledge of USPAP, AIR, and federal/state regulations governing property valuations and the legal aspects of mortgage instruments
Proficient in appraisal management software and LOS tools, with an interest in how automation can improve the appraisal lifecycle
Data-Driven Operator who uses performance metrics (e.g., cycle times, revision rates, and AMC performance scores) to diagnose bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement
Strong People Manager who builds trust, mentors staff, and is comfortable leading through change in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
Excellent Communicator capable of translating complex valuation data and regulatory requirements into clear recommendations for internal stakeholders and senior management
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Current Certified Residential or Certified General Appraiser license is strongly preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field
Experience working in a FinTech or high-growth environment where operational processes and technology are frequently iterated
Deep understanding of secondary mortgage market policies and how they impact appraisal review standards
