Job Description

• Serve as an escalation point for complex enterprise network issues.
• Design, implement, and support enterprise LAN/WAN, datacenter, backbone, and network security infrastructure.
• Lead system upgrades, expansions, and improvements aligned with County standards and industry best practices.
• Perform advanced engineering with Cisco routers, switches, wireless, and optical technologies.
• Create, review, and maintain engineering diagrams, documentation, specifications, and standards.
• Analyze network performance and recommend improvements.
• Coordinate with vendors for escalations and engineering support.
• Support change management processes, including testing and validation.
• Provide datacenter support (rack planning, power audits, cabling standards).
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and controls.
• Provide technical leadership to project teams and operations groups.
• Manage full hardware lifecycle: forecasting, procurement, receiving, asset tagging, documentation, and tracking.
• Maintain accurate inventory and lifecycle records, including configurations, warranties, and metadata.
• Coordinate procurement and renewals with vendors and KCIT business operations.
• Support maintenance agreements, licensing, and contract obligations.
• Lead equipment staging, returns, and warehouse coordination.
• Contribute to long‑term capital planning and hardware refresh strategies.
• Reduce technical debt through proactive lifecycle management.

Required Skills & Experience

• Five years of progressively responsible enterprise network engineering experience.
• Five years supporting enterprise LAN/WAN environments.
• Four years with Cisco routing and switching.
• Three years in hardware lifecycle and configuration management.
• Two years in vendor coordination, renewals, asset management, or procurement.
• Experience reading engineering diagrams and specifications.
• Experience with modern monitoring/configuration tools (SolarWinds, DNAC, ThousandEyes).
• Experience providing Tier 3 or senior‑level escalation support.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Desirable: CCIE, Microsoft, Data Center, or Cybersecurity certifications
• Strongly preferred: CCNP Enterprise
