Job Description

Oversee and supervise the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping services including, but not limited to, staff scheduling, job assignments, performance management, and training. Function as primary contact for all ES needs throughout the organization. Ensure services are provided in a timely, consistent and collaborative manner while ensuring standards and procedures are followed.
Function as a leader and educator for the department. Maintain working knowledge of all department tasks and responsibilities. Research answers and provide clarification to staff on questions including computer systems, all types of room cleans, and processes and standards. Maintain and monitor current standards for functions across all staffing roles.
Responsible, primary responsibility, to supervise staff and staff scheduling in the OR across all three shifts ensuring appropriate staffing mix; provide administrative support to management while maintaining compliance with department budget. Manage all hiring activities including recruitment, interviewing, reference checking, making offers, and training/orientation of new staff members. Track staff compliance and competencies. Ensure ongoing performance management is provided and documented. Act as a liaison to management for communications with other departments. Resolve conflicts within and/or between departments; escalate as necessary. Facilitate and support accomplishment of department and organizational goals.
Continually monitor, identify, evaluate, and improve service quality and delivery for all functions and processes. Apply a CPI-approach to implementation of process improvements and ensure maintenance of results from previous CPI efforts. Develop and maintain standard inspection audits and reporting tools to measure staff competencies and identify areas for improvement. Participate in regulatory audits as required.
Deliver training to new and current staff on processes and procedures. Proactively develop and maintain complete and relevant training materials/tools. Orient and train all new staff on ES standards, processes and computer systems.. Model superior performance; serve as a mentor to staff and model appropriate job skills and behaviors. Demonstrate, mentor, and encourage relationship building between disciplines for team building.
Monitor employee work hours; ensure correct time and attendance documentation is entered and approved in a timely manner and in accordance with hospital procedure and policy.
Respond to phone, pages and email for requests for service and/or response to calls for service. Arrange staffing to provide service coverage; follow up on complaints and problems to ensure appropriate and timely resolution.
Respond to emergency safety issues that involve use of equipment or coordination of resources for clean-ups. Examples may include floods, spills, fires, and other events that may result in the clean-up of areas, removal of furnishings (chairs, sofas), or follow-up services to perform deep or extensive cleanings.

Required Skills & Experience

2 years EVS/janitorial experience in healthcare, hotel or other equivalent housekeeping experience
2 years supervisor or lead experience
Floor Care experience
