Job Description

An employer in the Renton, WA is actively seeking a Stress Engineer II to join their team to support the New Product Development within the aerospace industry. You will be a part of a new program that has recently expanded and will be testing the stress levels and weight bearing on the composite parts that are manufactured for the end client. A successful candidate in the role be comfortable to go on the floor and test the components to make modifications to the specs as needed. Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Maters degree in Aerospace or Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• 8+ years of experience in primary or secondary aircraft structures, preferably with Boeing
• 3+ years of 3-D parametric computer aided design tools experience
• Femap or other FEM (Finite Element Method) software and knowledge of Bruhn stress analysis handbook calculations.
• Experience in overall monument analysis and substation including Decompression, Abuse analysis & testing.
• Familiar with Bruhn handbook for Analysis and Design of Flight Vehicle Structures. Familiar with CMH-17-1G, MIL-HDBK-23A, DOT/FAA/AR-MMPDS-01 or NAIR material database.
• Familiarity with FAR Part 25, Airworthiness Standards, and Transport Category Aircraft.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Responsibilities:
• New product substantiation and must be able to perform complex monument analysis, such as partition and floor mounted stowage units.
• FEM model creation and analysis for a minimum of 10+ years.
• Detail analyses of entire monuments.
• Provide stress approval of associated drawings, and check work of another specialist when needed.
• Provide conceptual ideas to particular structural problems, and conceptual design solutions to design engineers.
• Creation of stress reports, test plans and interface loads reports for developing product lines.
• Responsible for all substantiation test, coordination of test set-ups, and performing test.
• Coordinate with FAA/DER or other parties in support of STC or TC activities. Perform certification activities to support the program requirements.
• Coordinate with design, manufacturing, and procurement departments through the full substantiation cycle.
• Provide guidance to less experienced stress specialist.
