Job Description

Develop and document textile-based parts and assemblies.
Ensure that textile samples meet the required specifications, are consistent in quality, and are properly documented for future reference.
Coordinate handoffs, ensuring deliverables meet requirements, and communicate with downstream teams about upcoming deliverables and timelines.
Collaborate closely with knitting specialists, softgoods developers, research scientists, and engineering disciplines to identify challenges, offer creative solutions.
Contribute to the creation of CAD drawings, BOMs, tech packs, documentations, and various softgoods design files.
Complete various metrology on finished goods, including mechanical testing (instron), microscopy, stitch counts, and dimensional analysis
Work with testing technicians, engineers, knitting specialists, and research scientists to test and evaluate soft goods design components for manufacturability and performance.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in apparel design, industrial design, textile science, human factors, textile engineering, mechanical engineering, product design or other related discipline.
Metrology experience demonstrating a strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in their work.
Proficiency with software for documentation: Excel/Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides
Proficiency with softgoods materials, textile-based design attributes, and a variety of fabric integration and assembly strategies
Experience with softgoods, wearables and/or combining soft and hard goods in a product (e.g., sportswear, wearable technology, other consumer electronics

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Proficiency with digital tools for design (e.g., OptiTex, Clo, Adobe Suite, SolidWorks, Rhino, 3D printing, textile prototyping/manufacturing software).
Knowledge of knit programming language and files
Experience with design thinking, methods, and iterations to articulate solution design space.
Experience working with interdisciplinary collaborators, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, industrial designers, knitting specialists, softgood design specialists, testing technicians, and research scientists
