Job Description
• Support project teams to develop conceptual designs, design criteria, final designs, cost estimates and provide maintenance support for the mechanical portions of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds
• Lead and provide support in the translation of customer requirements to design options with documents and estimates
• Review mechanical designs to assess compliance with customer requirements, building codes and applicable laws
• Support the development of conceptual analysis to resolve causes of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, meantime between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)
• Collaborate with others in engineering, project management and maintenance to facilitate and implement improvements in asset efficiency, availability, and maintainability
• Lead team to ensure accuracy of drawing archives/libraries
• Coordinate review of contractor redlines
• Provide mentorship to identify errors and document construction changes to align with regulatory requirements, facility standards, and record retention requirements
• Support teams that manage construction projects by providing input on vendor selection
• Review of contractor proposals
• Lead in the production or procurement of detailed design documents
• Use appropriate resources to produce project drawings, specifications, and permit application packages in accordance with project parameters
• Support in translation of customer requirements into conceptual design and scope by analyzing intended use/occupancy and desired aesthetics, conducting code research, developing preliminary design elements, determining interdisciplinary engineering support requirements, estimating resource costs/requirements
• Develop and update design standards and site-specific operating procedures to establish common practices
• Participate in technical committees

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor of Science degree or postgraduate in Mechanical Engineering
• 3+ years of experience reading & understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
• 3+ years of experience supporting industrial facility building systems to include the following: HVAC, Ventilation, Vacuum Systems, Steam Boilers, Compressed Air, Chilled Water, Domestic Water and Sewer Systems
• 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• WA State Professional Engineer (PE) License
• 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 9+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role
• 9+ years of experience with applicable codes (i.e. IBC, IMC, UPC, WSEC, and ASME)
• Experience with fire protection rules, regulations, and code requirements
• 9+ years of experience applying Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), or other similar rigorous problem/analysis/resolution methodology to support engineering and manufacturing/production efforts
• 9+ years of experience assisting with Reliability Engineering processes
• Experience or proficiency in sustainable design, construction and operation (i.e. USGBC LEED certificates or similar
programs)
• Experience with the sustainability regulations and guidance (i.e. Washington State Climate Commitment Act, Carbon neutrality
by 2050)
