Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Principal Analyst to support one of their customers in the aerospace and defense industry. This Principal Analyst will utilize engineering principles and physics-based methodologies to evaluate, model, and predict the performance of aerospace systems and structures
Perform and lead structural assessments of components, mechanisms, and integrated systems using hand calculations, finite element analysis, and fatigue/damage tolerance approaches. Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Support high-level engineering decisions by contributing technical insight to requirements definition and system trade studies
- Provide technical oversight throughout the development lifecycle to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and compliance expectations
- Confirm and document compliance with engineering requirements, specifications, and program objectives
- Author and review detailed technical reports, analyses, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of engineering standards, tools, and training materials
- Serve as a mentor and technical resource for engineers at varying experience levels
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, high-quality engineering solutions

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
8 or more years of experience supporting aerospace and/or defense engineering programs
Deep experience performing structural analysis and simulation using finite element methods and classical analytical techniques
Hands-on proficiency with engineering and analysis tools such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, LS-DYNA, CATIA V5, SolidWorks, and standard Microsoft applications
Strong technical foundation in areas including aerospace structures, dynamics and kinematics, fatigue and damage tolerance, materials, and system-level design considerations
Proven ability to serve as a technical authority and guide complex, cross-functional engineering efforts from concept through execution
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing formal technical documentation and presentations
Ability to manage multiple technical priorities independently while working in a fast-paced engineering environment
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Prior experience leading or managing engineers or serving in a formal technical lead role
Background in coaching, mentoring, or developing junior engineers
Experience creating or refining engineering processes, best practices, or internal technical standards
Exposure to system requirements development, trade studies, or concept of operations (CONOPS) activities
