Job Description
A Pacific Northwest Utility is looking for a CAD Drafter to work in a hybrid capacity in Kent, Washington. This person will be supporting electric and gas projects assigned from a cue while working closely with Project Managers and Engineers. Creates and updates sketches, working drawings and contract documents using Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software. Prepares 2D and 3D models. Must be able to read and comprehend detailed customer requirements, data sheets and supplier specifications. Requires familiarity with drafting techniques and engineering concepts and terminology. Able to read engineering drawing and blueprints. Prepares documentation to support design drawings. Often requires experience with the specific design application in use by client base. Required Skills & Experience
4+ years of CAD drafting experience in a previous professional role
Experience working at a utility on both gas and electric projects
Ability to quickly learn a customized AutoCAD interface
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to assist with Traffic Control Plans
Valid driver’s license with the ability to occasionally drive to field visits
Ability to communicate effectively in person and remotely
Other related duties as assigned
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
AutoCAD certification
Construction or carpentry experience
Can develop tool profiles, palettes, and build things out in AutoCAD
Architectural design experience
GIS experience
Graphic design experience
Experience working with permitting departments
