Job Description

An employer is looking for a Sr. Traffic Engineer in the Everett, WA area. Under the direction of the City Traffic Engineer, this person will operate and manage the City's traffic signal system including development and optimization of signal timing plans, programming controllers, and directing maintenance activities. Work involves managing the planning, design, and construction of City traffic signal assets, providing professional traffic engineering review of road improvement plans for compliance with traffic engineering standards, as well as daily operational tasks related to planning and analysis for traffic operations. The position requires interaction with the public and the business community. Responsibilities also include providing technical supervision and advice to lower-level engineers or technicians on design and operational issues. Considerable independence is exercised, and work is reviewed based on the accuracy and utility of the finished product and the promptness with which operating deadlines are met. Depending on the area of assignment a senior engineer may supervise the work of technical staff i.e., associate engineers, engineering technicians, etc.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of professional civil engineering experience
2+ years of supporting traffic signal systems + signal timing
Strong computer + networking experience with knowledge of plugging into traffic controllers, DNS, fiber optic networking, etc.
Strong collaboration skills with a passion to learn + grow
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington
Valid driver's license (will be provided with City vehicle for local field travel)
