Insight Global is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to support a federal client in Suffolk, VA. The Computer Security Systems Engineer will provide advanced cybersecurity support.This position supports the integration, architecture design, and execution of communications and information systems that comprise the Joint Training DevSecOps pipeline and its core infrastructure, including critical Zero Trust security implementations.
The engineer will contribute to the planning, engineering, sustainment, and operation of global datacenter and network operations, supporting high-impact environments and training and simulation platforms used to ensure warfighter readiness across Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Services, and Agencies. This role demands a balance of strong technical skills, cybersecurity expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively in a high-tempo environment with occasional after-hours and on-call support.
The Cyber Security Engineer's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Design, implement, and maintain secure system architectures supporting DoD Joint Training environments.
• Integrate Zero Trust security frameworks into legacy and modern systems.
• Support operations and maintenance of the DevSecOps pipeline, data center infrastructure, and associated global network services.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to engineer solutions for live, virtual, constructive training environments.
• Lead and support engineering tasks related to technology upgrades, cybersecurity, systems integration, testing, and unified communications.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, implement mitigations, and ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies.
• Develop and maintain detailed system documentation, including configurations, network diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Interface with Joint Training stakeholders to ensure alignment of system capabilities with operational training needs.
• Assist in life cycle maintenance and sustainment of Service-level IT hardware/software systems both locally and distributed.
$55/hr to $57hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience
• 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
• IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, or equivalent) in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M.
• Proficiency with engineering and cybersecurity tools and platforms (e.g., vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection).
• 5+ years of experience in DoD IT systems engineering or cybersecurity roles.
• Experience working within a DevSecOps environment supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure.
• Prior support of military training systems (e.g., JKO, JLVC, JTSE) and operational exercises.
• Familiarity with DoD Zero Trust architecture and associated cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-207, DoD ZTA strategy).
• Experience with secure systems integration, cloud technologies, and data center operations.
• Strong understanding of unified communications, software/web services, and global networking in defense environments.
• Working knowledge of RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity compliance.
