Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Network Engineer with a Security focus to support a commercial client in suffolk, Va. The Network Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing the network security infrastructure and application components. Perform a wide variety of evaluation, maintenance, installation and training tasks to ensure the network security performance meets company and user satisfaction. Provide direction, information, and recommendations regarding security configurations and installations. Work with the Information Security group to implement agreed upon policies. Create and manage technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and execution.

Essential Responsibilities:
Deployment, Optimization, and Support of Cisco Firewall Threat Defense devices. A functional knowledge of Cisco Advanced Security Appliances would also be helpful.
Maintain and help to develop IPS signatures. SNORT Rule writing experience highly desired.
Manage and tune the Cisco Identity Services Engine suite that is used for organization authentication and identity verification.
Manage and tune other components of the Cisco Security Suite including: Stealthwatch, Umbrella, and Secure Client.
Maintain a thorough understanding of the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc.)
Maintain, configure and setup network and voice security through standard, best-practice configuration
Modifies and maintains network design and architecture to ensure compliance
May take on role of project leader for projects as needed
Utilize deep understanding of network security configuration to identify and respond to security audits
Assist network and voice engineers with resolving more difficult network challenges
Utilize network and security management applications to review overall network health and diagnose specific areas of concern
Collaborates with other teams on designs and plans
Design, setup and configure security for complex routing and switching environments
Design, setup and configure security for complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications
Maintain a thorough understanding of LAN and WAN technologies and their security implications
Maintain multi-site network, voice, and associated security operations
Troubleshoot malfunctions of network, voice, or security hardware and software applications, to resolve operational issues and restore services
Track project work and tasks using the currently-accepted workflow system
Participate in engineering on-call schedule
Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 5-7 years IT experience in a variety of technologies including: firewalls, IPS, routers, and switches.
Current CCNA or CCNP Certification Preferred (with Enterprise Routing and Switching or Security Competencies)
Understanding of Cisco Security Suite Applications
Experience implementing, tuning, and optimizing firewall, IPS, and VPN environments
SNORT rule writing experience
Basic understanding of advanced networking concepts (IP Addressing, routing, switching, OSI, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, protocol analysis, etc.)
