Job Description

Day to Day:
• Support major steam turbine outages with onsite technical oversight
• Perform inspections and condition assessments of turbine components
• Troubleshoot operational issues and support RCAs
• Develop short and long term maintenance strategies
• Write scopes of work for repairs and component replacements
• Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, and internal outage teams
• Support budgeting and cost estimating for future outages
• Travel to repair shops for inspections and vendor oversight

Job Description:
Insight Global is seeking a Steam Turbine Engineer for a top utility/power generation client. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert supporting steam turbine outages, inspections, and long-term maintenance strategies across a large generation fleet. The role blends technical analysis, field support, vendor coordination, and strategic planning, offering exposure to critical assets and high-impact projects. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with strong long-term potential for the right candidate who brings deep turbine knowledge and thrives in a hands-on, collaborative environment.

Pay Range: $30/HR - $70/HR

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years hands on experience with non nuclear steam turbines
• Outage support experience (planned and/or forced)
• Strong turbine inspection, troubleshooting, and condition assessment skills
• Experience working with OEMs and repair vendors
• Ability to write scopes of work and support cost estimates
• Willing to travel to plant sites across Virginia
• Virginia residency (or willingness to relocate)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent deep technical experience)
• OEM background (GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi Power, Alstom/ABB legacy)
• ASME PTC 6 experience
• Utility or power generation background
• Experience leading outage programs or technical initiatives
• Experience supporting nuclear teams as a steam turbine SME
