Senior Systems Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide infrastructure-focused support across both modern .NET applications and legacy environments, within a highly regulated state government (VITA) context.
This role is engineering-heavy, not administrative. The ideal candidate will bring deep Microsoft server-side expertise and be capable of operating independently in a complex, security-conscious environment.

The hourly rate for this role is $50-70/hr and based on experience.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide hands-on systems engineering support for Windows-based infrastructure
• Support .NET application infrastructure, including:
o IIS
o Windows Server
o SQL Server
• Assist with legacy environment support, including:
o ColdFusion server patching & security updates (nice-to-have)
o Managing risks associated with legacy platform updates
• Partner with development teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with application needs
• Ensure systems meet state security, compliance, and governance standards
• Troubleshoot complex issues and escalate appropriately

• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer (not sys admin)
• Strong Microsoft infrastructure background: Windows Server, IIS, SQL Server, Active Directory / Entra ID, Office 365 administration
• Experience supporting application infrastructure (not just servers)
• Experience working with state agencies or VITA

• Exposure to ColdFusion or similar legacy platforms
• Azure DevOps experience (on prem or cloud)
• Experience supporting modernization or migration initiatives
