Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Interface/Batch/Architecture Specialist is to ensure that Cardinal batch processing completes successfully on a daily basis and the next day batch jobs are loaded into the scheduling tool. Any changes required to batch for that day would need to be communicated to the VITA Production Batch control team and would need to be verified, this includes additional dependencies. restarts, etc. This person is primarily focused on Peoplesoft development as a part of the Batch team ensuring that batch processing completes properly across the following applications - Finance (FIN) and/or Human Capital Management (HCM). FIN functional areas include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Project Accounting and Purchasing. HCM functional areas include Human Resources, Time and Attendance, Payroll and Benefits Administration. This candidate will work onsite in Richmond Tuesday-Thursday each week. The candidate will be paid at an hourly rate of between $50-70 and is based on experience.
* In addition, if any ad-hoc or ABEND jobs are required they are done so based on the established operational "Run Book" and other operational documentation to manage the scheduling of production batch jobs/schedules.
* Exposure working within PeopleSoft using tools like PeopleTools, PS query and SQL etc.
* Monitors scheduler related incidents and develop and recommend changes to the scheduler database.
* Capable of doing initial research/triaging of Application/Interface job failures using tools available within PeopleSoft or other applications.
* Performs job restart when required, in accordance with resolution and restart procedures.
* Adheres to defined batch window for start and completion of batch processing.
* Analyzes and recommends to COVA methods to improve online, operational, batch, and interface performance of the applications.
* Ensures that all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) related to batch processing are successfully met.
* Communicate with Interface partners on technical issues.

Required Skills & Experience

* PeopleSoft development skills
* Desired exposure of 3 to 5 years working with PeopleSoft 9.0 or higher with understanding of high level core processing in one of the applications - Finance (FIN) and Human Capital Management (HCM). FIN functional areas include Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Project Accounting and Purchasing. HCM functional areas include Human Resources, Time and Attendance, Payroll and Benefits Administration.
* Exposure working within PeopleSoft tools such as PeopleTools, PS query and SQL etc.
* Batch processing -- (Using Batch scheduler tools like Control-M)
* Production Support Experience
