Day-to-Day:
Support the Cyber Technology team responsible for solar plant infrastructure
Perform patching, firmware updates, and system hardening
Audit solar sites to ensure ports are blocked and security standards are met
Maintain and monitor servers, NAS devices, and backup systems
Troubleshoot network and system issues using tools like Wireshark
Coordinate updates that load to centralized servers
Travel onsite to 2 solar sites per week across VA regions
Document findings, remediation steps, and compliance updates
Work closely with engineers and cyber leadership to maintain plant security

Insight Global is seeking a Cyber Technology Support Engineer to support a large energy client’s solar plant infrastructure. This individual will work hands-on in industrial environments to ensure systems are secure, compliant, and operating efficiently. The role involves patching, firmware updates, audits, server and backup support, and onsite troubleshooting across multiple solar facilities. This is a great opportunity for someone with a cyber or IT background who wants exposure to critical infrastructure and renewable energy operations while working closely with engineering and cyber teams in the field.
Pay Range $20-$30/HR

Required Skills & Experience
Hands-on experience supporting cybersecurity or IT in an industrial / OT environment
Experience with patching systems and updating firmware
Working knowledge of Windows (Microsoft) environments
Familiarity with servers, rack-mounted hardware, and data center concepts
Experience with network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark or similar)
Understanding of backup/restore processes (VMs, NAS, or server backups)
Ability to travel to multiple solar sites weekly
Strong documentation and audit skills (site reviews, port blocking, compliance)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Prior experience supporting solar plants, utilities, or energy infrastructure
Exposure to industrial control systems (ICS/SCADA)
Experience with NAS devices, power plant controllers, or inverter networks
Cybersecurity internship or early-career cyber role in an industrial environment
Familiarity with Dell hardware
Experience working in regulated environments (utilities, energy, critical infrastructure)
