Job Description
Our local government client is seeking a Pump Station Mechanic to join their growing Public Works team in Petersburg, VA. This individual will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer pumping stations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Inspect, diagnose, and perform major and minor repairs on water, sewer, and pumping station equipment.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate preventive maintenance schedules for pumping stations, either independently or through coordination with external vendors.
• Respond to emergency calls related to pump station alarms and perform necessary corrective actions.
• Inspect, adjust, and replace components and related parts across multiple stations to ensure operational efficiency.
• Retrieve and transport parts and supplies required for pump station repairs.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory of parts, and equipment reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including confined space entry, lockout/tagout protocols, and other relevant safety standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental operations.

Required Skills & Experience
- 2-5+ years of hands-on mechanical experience - ex: engines, motors, gearboxes, transducers, diesel systems, and electrical components.
- 2-5+ years of experience in maintaining and repairing sewer and water pumps at various pump stations.
- Comfortable using a wide range of tools
