Job description:
The Controls Technician will support daily plant operations by performing advanced PLC programming, electrical troubleshooting, and variable‑speed drive (VFD) installation. This role is hands‑on and requires experience across multiple control platforms, HMI interfaces, and packaging machinery.

Responsibilities:
• Perform PLC programming, diagnostics, and troubleshooting across multiple platforms (ex. Allen Bradley or Honeywell).
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• Conduct electrical work typical of an industrial electrician, including wiring, component replacement, and equipment repairs.
• Program and maintain HMI interfaces used in production environments.
• Support, troubleshoot, and maintain Ray Pack packaging machines and related automation equipment.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure minimal downtime and reliable equipment performance.
• Document programming changes, maintain backups, and follow safety and compliance standards.

Required Skills & Experience

Qualifications:
• 5–8 years of PLC programming experience or formal PLC training, with exposure to multiple control system brands.
• Strong experience with VFD installation, configuration, and programming.
• Hands‑on experience with HMI programming and interface troubleshooting.
• Background as an industrial electrician or similar electrical technical role. (No certifications required)
• Ability to interpret schematics, diagnose system faults, and perform effective corrective actions.
• Experience supporting high speed industrial manufacturing facilities. (ex. packaging machinery—Ray Pack machines strongly preferred.)
• Strong commitment to safe work practices and reliability.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred:
• Formal training or certifications related to PLC automation, controls engineering, or industrial electrical systems.
• Experience across multiple automation platforms beyond a single manufacturer.
