Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an Estimator for our client in the ship repair and government industry. This is onsite in Norfolk, VA.
Responsibilities include:
1. Receive requests and review work scope, work items, specifications, and drawings to develop original bid.
2. Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
3. Revise original bids by incorporating bid and drawing revisions.
4. Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or production foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
5. Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
6. Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
7. Confer with engineers, project managers, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
Working Conditions:
1. Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and / or rainy weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
2. Occasional Travel for Site Visits within the company.
3. Occasional Travel for Ship Checks/site Visits.

Required Skills & Experience
-Five year estimating experience preferred.
-Three years industry experience in Ship Repair Programs or related industry.
-Understanding of steel pipe installations, pricing, labor costs, etc.
-Experience analyzing blueprints and other documents to prepare estimates for time, costs, materials and labor
-Ability to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders
-Excel, MS Project, JAMIS Prime, and MS Office Suite
