Job Description

Day-To-Day:
An employer is looking for a Secret Data Engineer to sit remotely. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining backend data pipelines that support an organizations dashboards and reporting initiatives. The individual will ingest, clean, and process large-scale datasets related to military and defense sales, while developing and optimizing SQL queries and Python scripts to support KPI reporting and analytics. Working in a collaborative Agile environment, this role partners closely with Data Analysts, Frontend Engineers, Scrum Masters, testers, and usability teams to deliver reliable, high-quality data solutions. The position involves active participation in PI Planning, sprint ceremonies, and team status updates, as well as direct engagement with government stakeholders to gather requirements and provide program updates. The role supports a cross-functional team of 10–15 members, including multiple data engineers at varying levels, and contributes to continuous improvements in data quality, performance, and usability. Support for classified work is required based on program needs.

Compensation:
$95 to $125 per year annual salary. [If client has provided an exact salary, then no need to use a range; also, if the client has provided an hourly rate, then use same hourly language from the Contract/Contract-to-Hire section above.]

Required Skills & Experience

Active Secret clearance
Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering or something similar with 0-9 years of experience in a technical role
Strong Python experience (academic + applied acceptable)
Strong SQL skills
Hands-on experience with relational databases
Experience with data ingestion, parsing queries, and handling large datasets (10M+ rows)
Ability to design and support KPI-driven dashboards
Backend or data engineering background
Experience working in Agile environments
Strong communication skills and comfort interfacing directly with customers
Ability to work remotely while supporting Eastern Time Zone hours

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience supporting DoD or federal government customers
Exposure to military sales, logistics, or defense data
Experience collaborating with data analysts and frontend teams
Prior work on dashboard-driven reporting for leadership
