About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Analyst for a project-based contract focused on payroll data auditing and reconciliation. This role is strictly analyticalyou will not be processing payroll, but rather conducting deep-dive investigations into historical payroll data as part of a legal and compliance review.
Youll be working with payroll registers identifying discrepancies, analyzing deduction codes, and preparing findings for internal stakeholders and external auditors. This is a high-impact role that supports legal, compliance, and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and scrub historical payroll registers (PDF and Excel format) from UKG systems.
Identify discrepancies, missing data, and deduction code issues across multiple pay periods and employee records.
Reconcile payroll data to determine root causes of errors and inconsistencies.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders (payroll, benefits, legal, and compliance) to validate findings and propose corrective actions.
Present findings clearly and concisely to directors, C-suite leaders, and external auditors.
Support the development of SOPs and system improvements to prevent future discrepancies.
Assist with internal audits and benefits-related payroll analysis.
Work closely with unionized payroll structures and understand the nuances of union pay rules.

Experience working with legal, compliance, or audit teams is a plus.
Familiarity with benefits and deduction codes is highly desirable.
