Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a BI Data Analyst to support one of our clients local to Richmond, VA. Support the development of Power BI dashboards, translate business requirements into data solutions, and provide analytical support across departments. This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders to deliver impactful reports, provide data insights, respond to BI service requests, and contribute to documentation of data sources and logic. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in Power BI, SQL skills, and a passion for improving data transparency and decision-making across the organization. Preferred salary range is ideally $80,000/year to $100,00/year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
40% of Job: Business Analysis & Requirement Translation
• Partner with business users to gather and understand reporting and data needs.
• Translate business requirements into actionable BI solutions.
• Identify opportunities for new KPIs, metrics, and data-driven decision-making.
• Perform ad hoc analysis to support strategic initiatives.
30% of Job: Power BI Report Development
• Design, build, and maintain visually compelling Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and deliver impactful solutions.
• Utilize DAX and Power Query (M) to create dynamic data models and calculations.
20% of Job: Service Ticket Handling & Problem-Solving
• Respond to BI-related service tickets (e.g., data corrections, dashboard updates).
• Troubleshoot and resolve user issues while ensuring high service quality.
• Gain deeper business understanding through ongoing support interactions.
10% of Job: Documentation & Knowledge Management
• Help create and maintain documentation on data sources, report logic, and usage.
• Support documentation efforts for the current data landscape and governance.
• Contribute to internal wikis, FAQs, and data catalogs for team knowledge sharing.

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in BI development or data analysis
Strong proficiency in Power BI (including DAX and Power Query).
Basic to intermediate SQL skills for querying and data validation
Proven experience translating business needs into effective BI solutions
Comfortable managing BI service tickets and ad hoc user requests
Python analysis and visualization
Experience with tools like SharePoint or Confluence
Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., Zendesk, Jira)
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Administration (with a technology focus), or a related field

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred Certifications: Power BI, Azure Data Engineering, or project management (e.g., PMP)
