Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a nuclear engineer to support the core design and reload licensing for commercial nuclear power plants in the United States. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related field. The ideal candidate will also possess 5-8+ years of related core design and neutronics experience supporting the reload licensing process for commercial nuclear power plants. This position is fully remote but would be preferred to be located in Lynchburg, VA.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform nuclear core design for commercial nuclear plant refueling processes.
• Optimize core configuration for maximum energy efficiency.
• Conduct computational simulations and transient analysis using advanced modeling tools.
• Exercise core models to extract critical data for reactor performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide analytical insights supporting licensing and operational decisions.
• Prepare and contribute to licensing documentation for reload and refueling of reactors.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related ABET-accredited program.
• 5–15 years of direct experience in nuclear core design and neutronics.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with NEMO and/or PRISM modeling tools.
• Strong proficiency in specialized nuclear modeling software and simulation platforms.
• Excellent computational and analytical skills.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience in nuclear reactor design and fuel cycle optimization.
• Advanced computational modeling capabilities.
• Expertise in criticality analysis and core performance evaluation.
