Job Description
A client of Insight Global is seeking a Sr. Cloud Operations Engineer with deep expertise in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD/VDI) and data migration to support a secure Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This hybrid role, based in Arlington, VA, is primarily hands-on engineering with opportunities to contribute to broader architectural decisions. The engineer will work with the latest version of Azure Virtual Desktop (1.0.10159.600) and focus on deploying scalable, secure cloud infrastructure using Azure-native services, Terraform, and Kubernetes, with limited AWS involvement (currently ~5%). A key responsibility includes initiating and documenting the data migration process from legacy on-premises systems to the cloud. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cloud operations, VDI provisioning and optimization, and network security, along with a solid understanding of Zero Trust architecture and DoD cybersecurity standards.

Required Skills & Experience
• TS/SCI
• Bachelors Degree in a related field
• 8 years of Cloud Engineering experience
• DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II Certification
• Experience supporting Azure and AWS cloud environments
o This work will be 95% Azure, and roughly 5% AWS.
o Knowledge of supporting Azure Virtual Desktop through provisioning and managing host pools, session hosts, and application groups
o User assignment and profile management
o Monitoring and optimizing VDI performance and session reliability
• Cloud infrastructure and deployment using terraform and Kubernetes
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Zero trust knowledge
• Understanding of SAP security requirements
