Trader - Capital/Secondary Markets

We are seeking a skilled Senior Trader to join our Capital Markets team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the secondary mortgage market, with proven expertise in selling whole loans, trading Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS), and leveraging Compass Analytics for pricing, hedging, and risk management. This role is critical in optimizing execution strategies, maximizing profitability, and ensuring compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
- Execute trades in the secondary mortgage market, including whole loan sales and MBS securitizations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with investors, broker-dealers, and GSEs to ensure competitive pricing and execution.
- Utilize Compass Analytics for pipeline hedging, best execution analysis, and pricing strategies.
- Package and deliver loans into agency and non-agency MBS pools.
- Monitor market trends, interest rate movements, and investor appetite to inform trading strategies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including pricing, lock desk, operations, and compliance teams.
- Analyze loan-level data to identify trading opportunities and mitigate risk.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory and investor guidelines in trading activities.

The compensation for the position varies between $110,000-140,000 depending on experience.

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (MBA or CFA preferred).
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in mortgage trading, with a focus on secondary markets and MBS.
- Deep understanding of MBS structuring, pooling, and delivery processes.
- Experience in Compass Analytics and other trading/pricing platforms.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes trading environment
