Job Description
Insight Global is hiring a Developer to support a higher‑education client on a short‑term contract. This role focuses on reviewing existing codebases, validating functionality using AI tools (LLMs, Azure AI Studio, Copilot, ChatGPT), and helping modernize or replace various custom applications.
You will work independently on the application side while collaborating closely with systems and network engineers. Work includes supporting a legacy Microsoft Access application, assisting with code enhancement, and contributing to cloud‑based modernization efforts. The ideal candidate is solutions‑oriented, experienced with Azure, and comfortable using AI-driven development workflows.
Day to day:
- Review custom applications and validate functionality using AI tools (LLMs, Copilot, ChatGPT, Azure AI Studio).
-Modify or improve existing code and assist with custom program updates.
-Support and update an older Microsoft Access–based application.
-Provide recommendations for replacing or modernizing outdated systems.
-Work with systems and network engineers while operating independently on application tasks.
-Use Azure and DevOps practices to support development and deployment workflows.
-Contribute within a mixed Agile/Waterfall environment.
Pay Ranges from $60-$70/hr

Required Skills & Experience
Professional experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI development platforms (Azure AI Studio, OpenAI, Copilot, etc.).
Ability to assess code from a high level and use AI tools to validate or troubleshoot it.
Strong programming background, including Python.
Experience with Azure cloud solutions.
DevOps experience (CI/CD, version control, automation, deployment tooling).
Ability to support and update legacy applications, including Microsoft Access.
Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently.
Comfortable working onsite one day per week in Chester, VA.
Experience working in mixed SDLC environments (Agile & Waterfall).
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Additional cloud experience, especially AWS, to complement Azure expertise.
Experience modernizing or replacing outdated custom applications.
Prior experience supporting higher‑education IT environments.
Familiarity with collaborating alongside systems and network engineering teams.
Experience evaluating and restructuring legacy codebases.
