Job Description

This candidate will serve as the frontier artificial intelligence and technology systems expert within CFA Institute’s foresight function, co-shaping foresight outputs through deep, domain-specific insight on how advances in AI — including frontier trajectories such as AGI and beyond — may reshape finance, markets, institutions, and professional practice over time

Critical experience signals
o Ability to operate as a frontier technology systems thinker who:
○ understands artificial intelligence as an evolving socio-technical system rather than a collection of tools
○ works comfortably with deep uncertainty around capability trajectories and timelines
○ distinguishes between plausible future pathways and speculative or hype-driven narratives
o Proven experience analyzing and stress-testing:
○ AI capabilities, limitations, and maturity across different model classes and architectures
○ dependencies involving data, compute, infrastructure, scaling dynamics, and organizational capacity
○ failure modes, control challenges, and governance risks associated with advanced AI systems
o Experience constructing and contributing to:
○ scenario frameworks or conceptual models exploring how AI capabilities may evolve over time
○ system-level narratives linking technical change to institutional, market, and professional implications
○ foresight outputs that inform strategic decision-making without relying on prediction or false precision
o Experience translating frontier technical understanding into:
○ implications for investment practice, risk management, and market structure
○ assumptions and guardrails that inform research framing and practitioner guidance
○ realistic constraints on what can be responsibly adopted, governed, or codified

Credibility grounded in deep technical expertise combined with systems thinking and real-world exposure, rather than promotional, speculative, or purely academic positioning.
