Job Description

A large utility company is seeing a Power Systems Engineer to work onsite in Roanoke VA for a year long contract with possibility of conversion. This Engineer will be responsible for for conducting pre- and post-energization reviews, maintaining asset data integrity, coordinating with field personnel, and ensuring all assets are properly documented and accounted for throughout the commissioning process. The ideal candidate will have experience in utility operations, asset management systems, and electrical infrastructure projects.

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET* along with two or more years of related engineering experience.

- Knowledge of electric utility systems, substations, transmission, or distribution assets.

-Experience interpreting engineering drawings, electrical prints, and technical documentation.

- Familiarity with asset management systems, databases, and reporting tools. (Excel, SharePoint, Power BI)

-Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Knowledge of utility operational practices and outage management processes.

- Familiarity with IPS, GIS, Maximo, SAP, or similar utility asset management platforms.

- Experience working directly with field operations and maintenance personnel.
