Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Designer for a leading energy and utility client. This candidate will support the development and maintenance of engineering design packages for air emissions monitoring systems at power generation facilities. The ideal candidate will split time between design work and field activities, collaborating with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable system performance. Responsibilities include creating and updating drawings using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, conducting field walkdowns, and supporting both new construction projects and ongoing plant modifications. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented designer looking to work in a hands-on industrial environment with exposure to critical environmental compliance systems.

Pay Range: $20-$30/hr

Day-to-Day:
Develop design packages and drawings for air emissions monitoring systems
Support capital projects and maintenance-related modifications
Create and revise engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and plant personnel to implement design solutions
Perform field walkdowns to verify existing plant conditions
Update drawings and documentation based on field findings
Ensure designs comply with safety, environmental, and engineering standards
Assist with as-built documentation and project closeout activities
Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts for emissions monitoring equipment and systems

Required Skills & Experience

Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
2-3 years of design experience in industrial, utility, power generation, manufacturing, or similar environments
Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
Experience with SIMS or similar engineering design/document management systems
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Comfortable performing field walkdowns and gathering site information

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with control wiring design
Experience with gas piping systems
Power plant, utility, industrial facility, or environmental compliance experience
Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems related to emissions monitoring equipment
Experience incorporating field-verified changes into engineering design packages
Background supporting emissions monitoring systems
