Job Description

Insight Global is looking to hire a remote Senior SAP ASE / Sybase DBA with deep Data Architecture expertise to lead a critical data transition effort from a legacy Sybase environment to a modern, Okta‑based Identity Management platform.

This expert will serve as the bridge between complex legacy data structures and modern identity schemas—ensuring accuracy, security, and a seamless migration throughout the customer’s implementation and legacy system decommissioning.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead data mapping from SAP ASE / Sybase to Okta user profiles and identity schemas.
- Design the data architecture strategy supporting modernization, Zero Trust, and legacy system decommissioning.
- Build and validate ETL pipelines (e.g., Azure Data Factory), moving Sybase data to cloud identity targets.
- Reverse‑engineer legacy stored procedures to extract business rules and transformation logic.
- Optimize queries, indexes, and database performance for large‑scale data extraction.
- Manage Sybase Replication Server to ensure consistency across legacy and staging environments.
- Provide senior‑level support for SAP ASE / Sybase and Sybase IQ, including backup/recovery, troubleshooting, and capacity planning.
- Enforce strong data security, metadata governance, and compliance with federal Zero Trust requirements.

Compensation:

- Large-Scale Migration Experience: Proven delivery of enterprise migrations (hundreds of stored procedures; multi‑DB environments) from Sybase to SQL Server or other modern targets, including reconciliation across overlapping datasets.
- Sybase Expertise: 8+ years administering SAP ASE/Sybase, including Replication Server and performance‑critical stored procedures.
- Advanced T‑SQL: 10+ years of expert-level SAP ASE/Sybase T‑SQL, with strong skills in debugging, refactoring, and optimizing complex procedures and triggers.
- Data Modeling: 4+ years designing relational schemas and translating them into modern, identity‑centric or non‑relational models (e.g., Okta, JSON).
- Cloud Data Integration: Experience using cloud-native ETL/data integration tools for secure data movement from legacy systems.
- Identity Awareness: Understanding of IAM/ICAM and how database design supports Zero Trust architectures.
