Job Description

Insight Global is looking to hire a Cyber Policy SME sitting hybrid in the Alexandria, VA area. This individual will be responsible for advising senior DoD leadership on the development, implementation, and oversight of cybersecurity policies and governance frameworks related to software and application environments. The role focuses on enhancing institutional cybersecurity maturity by shaping policy guidance, aligning software practices with federal standards, and supporting strategic decision-making. Responsibilities include evaluating existing policy structures, recommending improvements, and facilitating cross-stakeholder coordination to ensure consistent and compliant implementation across programs. This position plays a key role in advancing secure software practices through policy—not engineering—while helping to strengthen the DoD’s overall cybersecurity posture.

Compensation:
$65.00/hr to $72.00/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

- Active Secret or TS security clearance
- 14 years of IT experience and a Bachelor’s degree in IT, cybersecurity, or a related field
- At least 5 years of cybersecurity experience, especially in interpreting complex cybersecurity guidance and translating it into actionable policy
- Demonstrated expertise in interpreting DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement) requirements and translating them into actionable internal policies
- Extensive experience developing and advising on cybersecurity policy for software and application environments
- Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity standards, governance frameworks, and compliance requirements
- In-depth knowledge of STIGs and RMF, with demonstrated ability to apply them in policy development and oversight
- Experience briefing senior leadership, developing white papers, and influencing policy at the enterprise level (e.g., OSD or equivalent)

- Previous Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) experience
