Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Controller to an automotive manufacturing company based in Salt Lake City Utah. The Controller will be responsible for all aspects of financial management, including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. Acting as a strategic business partner to operational leaders, this role will provide key financial insights to drive performance, manage cash flow, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The Controller will report directly to the CFO and play a critical role in supporting expansion, manufacturing efficiency, and PE-level reporting expectations.

Key Responsibilities Include:
Financial Leadership & Business Partnering
- Serve as a trusted advisor to operational decision-makers, providing financial insights and tools to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Communicate financial results, risks, and opportunities to key stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support product development and operational teams in ensuring pricing, cost, and margin requirements are met.

Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including variance analysis against budget and performance metrics reporting.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and other applicable financial reporting standards.
- Assist with the preparation and coordination of the annual financial statement audit.

Cost Control & Performance Metrics
- Develop and monitor internal costing models to track key financial and operational metrics on a monthly basis.
- Conduct economic and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and performance improvement.
- Partner with operations managers to reduce overall input costs and improve profitability.

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Lead cash flow forecasting and active cash management to minimize borrowing costs.
- Identify opportunities to optimize working capital and improve financial efficiency. Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Maintain a strong internal control environment, ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures.
- Conduct internal control self-assessments and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Communication
- Supervise and support accounting staff.
- Collaborate with management and external advisors to align financial strategies with business goals.
- Ensure compliance with tax, regulatory, and reporting requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of progressive experience in controllership, accounting leadership, or senior finance roles
• Manufacturing finance experience (the space is unique with the volume and inventory movement and its affect on cash flow management and cost accounting)
• Strong ownership across full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
• Demonstrated ability to present vertically and experience with presenting to Sr Leadership (creating month end presentations, etc).
• Confident, adaptable, and proactive personality with a passion for learning and improvement
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
• Ability to operate hands-on while thinking strategically

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• CPA designation (or equivalent)
• Automotive, RV, or luxury consumer goods background
• FP&A experience to support with forecasting and purchasing for inventory acquisition
• Experience building or refining costing models in a manufacturing environment
• Background supporting rapid growth or operational scale
• Experience operating in a private equity (this could allow them to elevate to a new role faster).
