Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Hardware/Software Engineer to support Depots CMXG and AMXG, providing critical engineering expertise to both the Commodity Maintenance Group and the Aircraft Maintenance Group. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and performance of aircraft component test stands, including those used for landing gear, aircraft starters, and other flight‑critical systems.

You will serve as a systems-level engineer responsible for diagnosing, validating, and improving both hardware and software elements of automated test equipment (ATE). This position requires hands-on troubleshooting, coordination with test stand manufacturers, and deep technical understanding of how aircraft components should behave under test.

Duties Include but are not limited to:
Validate that aircraft components (e.g., landing gear assemblies, aircraft starters, hydraulic components) are being tested correctly on depot-level test stands.
Determine whether anomalies originate from test stand hardware, test stand software, or the unit under test (UUT).
Perform root-cause analysis on test failures, inconsistent readings, or unexpected system behavior.
Ensure test stands meet engineering, safety, and Air Force depot requirements.
Serve as the primary hardware/software liaison with test stand OEMs and third-party test equipment manufacturers.
Debug, modify, and optimize test stand software, including data acquisition, control logic, and instrumentation interfaces.
Support hardware integration, including sensors, actuators, signal conditioning, and embedded control systems.
Review and update test procedures, wiring diagrams, interface control documents, and system-level schematics.
Act as a systems engineer overseeing the full lifecycle of test stand capability—from requirements and design through deployment and sustainment.
Translate depot maintenance needs into technical requirements for test stand upgrades or new test capabilities.
Support configuration management, documentation updates, and engineering change proposals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including depot technicians, maintainers, program managers, and Air Force engineering authorities.
Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain test applications using LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI (preferred).
Work with data acquisition hardware, PXI systems, instrumentation buses, and real-time control systems.
Utilize engineering tools for signal analysis, instrumentation calibration, and automated test sequencing.

* Strong understanding of instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems.
* Ability to troubleshoot complex electromechanical systems at the component and system level.
* Experience working with engineering documentation, schematics, and test procedures.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience supporting military depot maintenance or aerospace component testing.
Familiarity with aircraft systems such as landing gear, starters, actuators, or hydraulic components.
Knowledge of ATE architectures, PXI-based systems, and NI hardware.
