Job Description
An O&G Operator in The Woodlands, TX is looking for a Technical Writer to join their Technical Training team. This role will work a hybrid (Tues-Thurs in office, Mon & Fri remote) 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off).
This role is Responsible for writing Standard Operating Procedures for the Oxy Gulf of America (GoA) offshore facilities and ensuring procedures are accurate, compliant, and consistent for existing assets, new developments, and brownfield projects. Responsible for providing technical writing support for policies and procedures as necessary to support GoA operations.
• Draft, edit, and publish all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) supporting GoA offshore operations.
• Ensure all operating procedures are accurate and aligned with engineering standards, specifications, and operating philosophies.
• Ensure all operating procedures comply with applicable BSEE and other relevant regulatory requirements.
• Develop new operating procedures to support new builds and brownfield projects throughout the project lifecycle.
• Update and revise existing operating procedures in response to Management of Change (MoC) activities and in accordance with established periodic review and revalidation cycles.
• Drive consistency, standardization, and quality across operating procedures for the client's assets within the Gulf of America.
• Contribute data to drive key performance indicators (KPIs) to support continuous improvement of the operating procedures program.
• Interface directly with offshore operations personnel to identify procedural needs, communicate changes, and incorporate operational feedback into procedure development and improvements.
• Provide technical writing support for policies and procedures as necessary to support GoA operations.

Required Skills & Experience
*5+ years of experience in technical writing, offshore oil and gas operations, engineering support, or procedure development.
*Bachelor's degree
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
*Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Technical Communication, Operations, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent offshore oil and gas operations experience.
*Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining operating procedures within the oil and gas industry; deepwater experience preferred.
*Proven ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation and drawings, including but not limited to SAFE charts, P&IDs, PFDs, vendor data books, pump curves, and design philosophies.
