The person in this position will provide support to the Project Engineer and/or Project Manager through the application of the theory and principles of engineering in planning and design in areas of CPS Energy (Electric & Gas) and/or Civil engineering. In addition to the technical aspects of this position, the ability to interact frequently with CPS customers and provide great customer service is essential. This is a customer facing role.

Completion of high school or technical school with courses in computer-aided drafting or comparable experience
5-10 years of experience as a drafting and engineering technician in commercial projects of varying scales
Proficiency in GIS/AutoCAD/MicroStation
Strong verbal and written communication abilities
Skilled in engaging with developers, customers, and officials from public agencies
Aptitude for nurturing robust relationships
Adaptability to immediate changes in work assignments as project requirements evolve
Aids the Engineer in creating technical plans and construction documents for civil projects, including electrical overheads, subdivision developments, underground electrical systems, and gas main designs.
Employs GIS, Bentley MicroStation, or Autodesk Civil 3D to help the Engineer with survey data processing, design sketching, earthwork computations, and material quantity estimations.
Establishes and maintains enduring customer relationships through proactive and interactive communication.
Demonstrates adaptable communication skills to cater to diverse customer needs.
Manages a high volume of customer interactions and calls.
Independently orchestrates project coordination with engineering consultants, developers, and regulatory bodies.
Conducts site visits as necessary to ensure precise design work.
Knowledge of CPS Energy WMS and GIS systems is advantageous. Additional related tasks may be allocated as needed.
