Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support overall mechanical systems for DHA hospitals and facilities. They will provide counsel and advice on compliance and quality management to Facilities Enterprise in the design, alteration, maintenance, repair, and modernization of major building physical plant systems which include building heating, ventilation systems, chillers, boilers, potable and non-potable water distribution systems, medical waste, sanitary sewer plumbing, medical gas, vacuum systems, security and communications, direct digital and pneumatic building automation control systems, and fire suppression systems.

Key Responsibilities but are not limited to:
Develops, specifies, evaluates, monitors, and analyzes maintenance procedures, services, performance requirements, and projects involving specific mechanical building infrastructure systems unique to military medical healthcare facilities.
o Responsibilities include ensuring that facility systems are designed, installed, operated efficiently, and maintained as needed to meet facility safe and efficient operational requirements; and are in compliance with government developed instructions/criteria and industry established standards, statutes and codes.
Performs functional testing and commissioning for government acceptance of systems delivered through the point-by-point verification of design, installation, functionality and performance of existing and newly installed mechanical infrastructure equipment and systems.
Provides advice at a technical engineering level on compliance and quality management to Facilities Enterprise Engineering Branch in the maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems which include building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; potable and non-potable water distribution systems; sanitary sewer; and plumbing systems.
Evaluate proposed projects and technical solutions based on need, code compliance, effectiveness, and life cycle cost.
Answer technical Requests for Information (RFIs) in accordance with codes, regulations, and DHA policy and procedures.
Travel to sites to investigate open requirement packages and conduct detailed inspections of existing conditions of equipment, evaluate the effectiveness of current maintenance procedures, and confirm the use of correct operational practices.
Provide a comprehensive and formal travel report detailing the observations, findings, and recommendations conveyed in a technical manner that remains consumable by a non-engineer.


Salary - $95,000-120,000

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
2+ years as a Mechanical Engineer supporting large federal facilities - building heating, ventilation systems, chillers, boilers, potable and non-potable water distribution systems, medical waste, sanitary sewer plumbing, medical gas, vacuum systems, security and communications, direct digital and pneumatic building automation control systems, and fire suppression systems
o ensuring that facility systems are designed, installed, operated efficiently, and maintained as needed to meet facility safe and efficient operational requirements
Ability to develop estimates and recommend repairs and optimizations

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Professional Engineer License
Previously held clearance
Masters Degree
