Tesla is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead multidisciplinary engineering execution for large-scale industrial, manufacturing, refinery, and energy infrastructure projects. This individual will be responsible for managing engineering strategy, design execution, project delivery, and organizational leadership across major capital expansion programs.
The ideal candidate comes from a major EPC, owner/operator, refinery, petrochemical, LNG, chemical processing, or heavy industrial organization and has successfully led large engineering organizations through the full project lifecycle—from conceptual design and FEL through detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
This role requires a strong technical leader capable of driving engineering excellence while operating in a fast-paced environment where schedule, cost, constructability, and execution are critical to success.

Drive engineering execution for large industrial capital projects from concept development through startup and commissioning.
Establish engineering strategy, standards, processes, and governance to ensure consistent project delivery.
Manage engineering budgets, staffing plans, organizational growth, and resource forecasting.
Partner closely with Construction, Project Controls, Procurement, Manufacturing, Operations, and Commissioning teams to ensure alignment between engineering deliverables and project execution.
Serve as the primary engineering interface with EPC firms, consultants, contractors, and technology vendors.
Lead design reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOPs, risk assessments, value engineering exercises, and stage-gate reviews.
Drive engineering schedule performance and accountability for milestone completion.
Ensure engineering deliverables support safe construction, efficient startup, and reliable long-term operation.
Oversee design quality, technical compliance, permitting support, and adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Support technology selection, process optimization, and facility expansion planning.
Mentor engineering managers and technical leaders while building a high-performance engineering culture.
